Most philosophy involving the human body has dealt with gender as one of its key concepts, from Freudian to Lacanian theories concerning Dualism and binary oppositions women have always been placed second to man, identified as inferior and ‘other’, women’s existence has been placed at the bottom of a hierarchical structure predominantly created by man. What my practice involves is challenging these theories, creating paintings which atempt to tackle issues relating to the representation of women..
